Theresa Roemer Named One of Houston's Most Influential Women

Big closet owner Theresa Roemer has been named one of the “Top 30 Influential Women of Houston” by something called the d-mars.com Business Journal, and we guess congratulations are in order.

Until we got this press release, we had no idea Roemer, who is married to multimillionaire oilman Lamar Roemer, was influential. But Roemer is apparently “breaking barriers and making a difference in the world and beyond,” according to the press release, which also states this:

Theresa’s accomplishments have inspired many. She grew up with a strong work ethic on a farm in Nebraska where she milked the cows, fed the chickens and cleaned the stalls. Today Theresa is a multi-millionaire with several businesses under her belt. Theresa opened a chain of fitness centers, Body by Design, in Wyoming in 1991 and ran five facilities through 2000 while also providing personal training services through her company Phenomenal Physiques. She took the U.S. Open title in body-building at the age of 40, and in the year 2010 Theresa held the titles of Mrs. Houston U.A., Mrs. Texas U.A., and was the 1st runner up for Mrs. United America concurrently. In 2011 Theresa climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for Child Legacy International.

And this:

In addition to being the CEO of Theresa Roemer, LLC, owning several home goods companies and being a fitness expert, Theresa is also a highly sought after corporate philanthropist.

Uh, OK. We submitted questions to Roemer’s publicists at Astonish Media, but instead of responding to us directly, Roemer and publicist Paula Conway discussed the questions on an online radio show.

We’re still not really sure what makes Roemer influential; she says she raises money for charities, but (fortunately) so do a lot of other wealthy Houstonians. She also apparently went to Malawi at least one time to observe water-well work by a charity she supports, Child Legacy International. Again, not sure how that translates into anything influential.

But hey, what do we know? Our closet’s the size of a friggin’ matchbox. We don’t claim to be qualified in such matters.
